MTN Launches Voice Over LTE Service
MTN has just launched the Voice Over LTE service (VoLTE) service on its network in South Africa.
MTN new Voice Over LTE service is branded as HD Voice and is limited to some selected smartphones.
According to MTN;
The Voice Over LTE (VoLTE) service will allow MTN customers to enjoy a clearer voice calls in natural-sounding HD Voice on MTN’s LTE network with a faster call connection time.
To activate the voice HD service, MTN customers are required to update their smartphones with the latest software update, after which their device will be automatically configured with support for the HD Voice.
MTN will also give qualifying customers a complimentary Free 1GB of data which can be used for the software update.
Meanwhile, the introduction of the VoLTE services will happen in two phases as shown below;
During the first phase, the service will be rolled out in September and will support some devices such as Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, Huawei P20 Lite, Sony Xperia XZ2, and CAT S61 devices.
While the second phase will be rolled out to more smartphones
