This is a game changer for Apple, as it announced its first set of iPhones to come with Dual SIM functionality out of the trio smartphones that was unveiled.
The dual-SIM powered iPhones actually come with just one physical SIM slot, while the other SIM will be an augmented eSIM.
What the eSIM simply means is that, for you to have a dual SIM functioning on the device, it won’t be a physical SIM card but has to be set up by your network carriers if only there is provision for the eSIM feature on their network, and if not, then you will have to be
On the other hand, this development is just for the network carriers to wake up to the realization of the eSIM, meanwhile, those carriers that already adopt the usage of the eSIM are still limited and just about 14 networks across 10 countries support this standard.
Be aware that to use two different carriers, your iPhone has to be unlocked. If a CDMA-based carrier (such as Verizon or Sprint in the US or any other carrier) provides your first SIM, then your second SIM won’t support CDMA.
